Grilled cheese is a staple of kids’ meals nationwide, but the grilled cheeses at Get Melted Cafe are a bit more grown-up. The cafe’s culinary team has transformed the classic into a gourmet delight. Molten brie, for instance, oozes from the “La Poire,” a creation on marble rye stuffed with mozzarella, pear slices, arugula, and dijon mustard. The “Hottie,” meanwhile, honors the many valences of its name with a zesty filling—turkey with jalapenos, oven-fired onions, and hot sauce. Of course, it wouldn’t belong at Get Melted without some cheddar and goat cheese on there, too.
Perhaps the most grown-up touch of all is the vapour lounge, on the cafe’s second floor. There, patrons can smoke their own medical marijuana, provided they have a license. It’s a savvy move for the restaurant—anyone with the munchies is sure to be delighted by the hearty sandwiches downstairs.
