The idea of gourmet burgers isn’t exactly new, but it’s not often that you see the topping combinations the chefs at Patty and Franks Gourmet Burgers and Hot Dogs are coming up with. And it’s even less common to see gourmet hot dogs.
The chefs craft burger patties using a family recipe and only work with filler- and preservative-free hotdogs. They then crown the burgers with such combos as pesto, goat cheese, and pancetta and the hot dogs with such mixtures as peanut butter, blueberry jam, and bacon. The hot dogs also sport regional toppings; for example, the Frank Capone Chicago-style hot dog comes with mustard, relish, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and the password into a speakeasy.
Those who can’t decide if they want a hot dog or a burger can try the P&F signature burger, which is topped with hot dog pieces, or the P&F frank, which is topped with a chopped burger patty. Or, they can opt for a fresh salad or poutine with fresh-cut fries.
