A master confectioner narrates the history of chocolate at the outset of the 90-minute workshop, tracing its evolution from an obscure tropical bean to a ubiquitous pantry staple. As the storyteller drums up intrigue, four platters of sample chocolates circulate from student to student, causing mouths to water with happy tears. When the history lesson concludes, the instructor helps participants handcraft various delicacies—Belgian specialty bonbons, truffles, mould chocolates, and more. Finally, the delicacies are nestled into a box, fastened with a ribbon, and sent home with their maker.
Chocolate Tales owner David’s childhood crush on confections multiplied each time his father would bring home chocolates after trips throughout Europe. Years later, David’s unconditional love for chocolate would resurface during his own exploration of the Old World, eventually leading him to open Chocolate Tales with his wife and fellow chocoholic. The enthusiastic chocolatiers share their knowledge of generating fine, cocoa-based creations as well as tasty tidbits of chocolate history. Their typical 90-minute workshops engineer impressive sweets such as Belgian bonbons and chocolate soufflés.
