For more than 85 years, Shopsy’s has nourished Torontonians with fresh deli fare and coordinated catering menus to feed backyard get-togethers, major corporations, and charity events. The deli menu heaps meats atop quality breads, crafting sandwiches such as the Bill Cosby ($15), which piles hot corned beef, pastrami, swiss, and sly observational humour on rye. Entrees include the Kilkenny fish and chips ($16), frying flaky, beer-battered haddock to a golden crisp, and a classic roast turkey dinner ($16) with all the trimmings. For lighter fare, diners can nosh on cabbage rolls or potato latkes ($5) or fill novelty size bowler hat with ladles of cabbage borscht ($6).

The catering menu affords extensive entree and hors d’oeuvre combinations, such as seasonal vegetable-filled pasta primavera ($13.99 each/minimum order of six) accompanied by a mushroom tart ($19.99/dozen, minimum order of three dozen). Feeding up to 20 people, the ultimate submarine sandwich ($109.99) layers assorted deli meats on three feet of french bread, supported by an array of garnishes and a inflatable cheering section. Customers should place catering orders at least 48 hours ahead, and orders can be picked up or delivered for an additional fee that varies by location.
