Every great restaurant has a great chef behind it: A chef who’s passionate about creating not just superlative food, but an exceptional dining experience. And at these Toronto Thai restaurants, that person is Sutham (Tom) Luangpitak, affectionately known by his staff and friends as Pi-Tom.

Tom grew up in Thailand and vividly remembers his mother’s great cooking skills. He was always helping her in the kitchen and when it came time to leave home, he was compelled to follow his calling and open up a restaurant of his own that carried on his mother’s legacy of great home-style food.

When he moved to Toronto it only made sense that he continue his career in Thai food in Toronto. In 2004 he opened up Pi-Tom’s Thai Restaurant in Toronto at Yonge and Alexander Streets.

The Ten Spot is a free-spirited day spa recommended by editors of fashion-forward magazines such as Flare, Fashion, Elle, Lou Lou, SweetSpot, and Strut + Bobbi. The Brazilian comes in four styles of varying amounts of forestation, including “The Charlie Chaplin,” “The Landing Strip,” “The Bermuda Triangle,” and “Like a Virgin.” Once gently nudged from their follicle beds, hairs stay under the skin’s surface for one to three weeks. amaica is only 234 kilometers in length, but it sure does pack in a lot of culture and cuisine. Every square inch of the island is constantly under the hypnotic aroma of some distinct dish. Everyone who doesn’t live in Jamaica is doing themselves a great disservice by not trying a taste of the Caribbean at least once. Luckily, we’ve got A Taste of the Islands to help those who are slow to the table.

Like everything else Jamaican, the food consumed by the people of Jamaica is uniquely their own. The Jamaican cuisine represents Tainos, Arawaks, and Caribs, which is a mix of different cultures that come together to make a melting pot of nationalities. The foods of Jamaica are a mix of African, Indian, Chinese, and European cuisine, but not to be forgotten is the first inhabitants of Jamaica, the hot chile peppers with their rich colour and texture.
