As profiled in the Toronto Star, The Mad Italian’s owner Eli Turkienicz designed the Zazzu hot pizza cone after the popular culinary concept took off in Italy. Unlike messier triangular slices that might be mistaken for edible pie chart components, Zazzus assemble recognizable pizzeria toppings inside an easily toted crispy cone. Dining partners can debate the merits of the menus’ many hot cone varieties, such as the turkey and pesto or the Tuscan tuna crowned with both mozzarella and parmesan. At The Wine Butler, an award-winning craft winery where grape pulverizers churn out 200,000 bottles of wine each year, visiting vintners craft 22–23 litres of wine over the course of two visits. Guests can choose from a selection of international wines that includes cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, chardonnay, and varietals harvested from Australia, Chile, South Africa, and the United States. During their inaugural visit, patrons select their wine and start their batch within the winery’s humidity-controlled habitat. Concoctions ferment for 6–10 weeks, giving clients ample time to construct a nursery out of cheese and crackers in anticipation of their wine’s arrival. On the second visit, vintners bottle and package their elixirs into approximately 28 750-millilitre bottles. The Wine Butler supplies labels, foils, and corks, and winemakers can opt to evict miniature boats from their own bottles or purchase bottles from the winery ($1 each).
