With a focus on seasonal local ingredients, Mildred’s Temple Kitchen alters its menus according to what’s freshest and the whims of its chef. The Table for Two menu ignites appetites with Italian bread soup, then plates shareable gnocchi poutine and shrimp and crab cakes awakened from a midday siesta by spicy coconut sauce. The main course ushers in an oven-roasted chicken breast resting between sweet tomato relish, garlic potatoes, and fresh seasonal greens or a side salad; an Italian affogato pairs Lindt milk-chocolate ice cream with hot espresso and biscotti for dessert. The Feast for Four menu adds a caesar salad bowl to the second course, and the main course features grilled strip loin steak drizzled with balsamic vinegar glaze and topped with caramelized onions, as well as organic pan-roasted Irish salmon wrested from a Gaelic grizzly. Sides are served family style, including bowls of hot buttered beans and garlic mashed potatoes. A tasting platter of homemade desserts and fair-trade coffee or tea concludes the evening in perfect form, like a midnight howl from a tuxedo-clad werewolf.
