Aravind Restaurant

Aravind Restaurant’s head gourmet chef graces palates with modern South Indian cuisine, built from Keralan recipes and sustainable local fare such as Great Lakes seafood and seasonal vegetables. Chefs populate their rotating menu with Lake Huron pickerel and Ontario trout, and also wet-stone-grind their own rice flour in-house rather than cutting corners by leaving it in the street to let local skateboarders run over it. In addition to modern ingredients and fusions with Western recipes, Aravind eschews traditional Indian family-style dining for plated courses. Aravind also employs in-house sommeliers to elegantly present a roster of VQA wines. Critic Joanne Kates has sung the restaurant’s praises in both Post City Magazines_’ Top 100 Restaurants of 2011 and the _Globe and Mail, where she asserts that as “a land of readers and writers, Kerala is also a land of grand cuisine, something that’s definitely on the books at Aravind.”
